MADISON, Wis. — An employee with the School District of Beloit has been put on administrative leave after he was allegedly caught using a hidden camera to record a female victim at a Madison-area home.
Andrew Liebergen, 49, of Verona, is charged with capturing an intimate representation without consent and invasion of privacy with a surveillance device.
According to a criminal complaint, Liebergen’s estranged wife confronted him after finding an unknown app on her husband’s tablet last month.
The complaint said she opened the app and found 41 saved videos showing the victim in “various stages of undress.” The first clips were recorded in November and included videos as recent as mid-January.
The woman allegedly found a hidden camera on a Wi-Fi repeater Liebergen had installed below the TV in her daughter’s bedroom.
The man claimed he put the camera in the bedroom to keep the victim “safe.” The woman told Liebergen to leave after he asked for forgiveness.
The complaint did not provide the victim’s age or whether she was a minor.
Officials said Liebergen has been given a signature bond and must avoid the home where the incident happened.
Liebergen is a literacy coach for Converse Elementary School in Beloit. A spokesperson with the district told News 3 Now he is on paid administrative leave as of Thursday.
The district is fully cooperating with Madison police, and an investigation is ongoing.
A preliminary hearing for Liebergen has been scheduled for May 7.
