MADISON, Wis.– It’s perhaps the only good reason to set your alarm on a Saturday morning: the Dane County Farmers’ Market is back!
The 2021 season begins April 10 at the Alliant Energy Center. From 7 a.m. to noon, shoppers will once again be able to buy fresh produce, plants, and other products from their favorite vendors.
Here are three things to know about this year’s evolving market:
- Location aside, it’ll look more like your typical Saturday morning tradition. Shoppers will once again be allowed to walk up to each booth and pick out products for themselves: no pre-ordering required. While Dane County’s latest emergency order has removed the mask mandate, everyone 5+ is still asked to wear one and stand six feet away from other shoppers whenever possible.
- Shoppers can still choose to pre-order. The market’s online store opens for pre-orders at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday for the Saturday market. Pre-ordered products must be picked up on foot from each vendor. There is no longer a drive-thru pick-up on Saturdays. Click here to place an online pre-order. A drive-thru option is still available to shoppers on Wednesdays. Click here for more information.
- Although the market is starting at the Alliant, that’s not where market managers expect it to end. This year’s market is under new management. Jamie Bugel and Jill Carlson Groendyk are starting their first season as co-managers. They tell News 3 Now the plan, as of now, is for the market to return to its rightful place on the Capitol Square later this summer, although an exact date has yet to be announced.
