MADISON, Wis. — SSM Health offered free trees Thursday in honor of Earth Day.
Distribution happened on first-come, first-served basis at two local parks: Badger Prairie County Park in Verona and Lunney Lake Farm County Park in Madison.
The giveaway is part of an initiative called ‘Healthy Parks, Healthy You,’ which was announced earlier this year by SSM Health, the Foundation for Dane County Parks, Dean Health Plan and Dane County Parks.
Officials said the initiative hopes to engage people of all ages to improve physical and mental health through the use of county parks.
