MADISON, Wis. — Since reopening last month the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s new goal is to practice Covid safety guidelines while opening up new exhibits this season.
Starting Friday MMOCA guests will get to experience a new exhibit called, “The Pandemic Series” created by artist Michelle Handelman.
Handelman is know for her films that draw on her life experiences and those of her performers to confront life and death, pain and pleasure.
Since reopening with new safety guidelines MMOCA is open Friday through Sunday from noon to 6pm.
Marni Mcentee , MMOCA Director of Communications says shared her excitement to reopen and have the community fall in love with art again.
“You know you come in here, stay as long as you like sit and look at a piece you know and really just reflect and just take a little time for yourself. I think artwork tends to inspire and it’s a nice kind of recharge for people in the community to come here,” said Mcntee.
Besides being a place that stores one-of-a kind art pieces, MMOCA is also a popular place that couples can say “I do”.
Bob Sylvester, MMOCA Director of operations says this wedding season is already booked.
“It’s a great thing to have all these people celebrate their special days with the museum and become members of the museum family. A lot of people will recognize coming back for openings or coming back for film series like that”, said Sylvester.
MMOCA plans to continue their movies on the rooftop series this summer, but with limited seating as social distancing is required.
