FALL RIVER, Wis. — A Columbia County man was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of sixth-offense OWI following a traffic stop.
Authorities with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department said a deputy was patrolling Highway 16 near Duborg Road when they spotted a 2006 Nissan Altima speeding. The deputy caught up to the vehicle as it entered the Village of Fall River and initiated a traffic stop in a parking lot.
According to a news release, the deputy smelled intoxicants in the vehicle, and the driver admitted to drinking the night before. The deputy conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver, 41-year-old Brian Hellenbrand, failed.
Hellenbrand was cited for speeding and arrested on suspicion of sixth-offense OWI, operation after revocation, failure to install ignition interlock device.
Officials said their investigation is ongoing.
