MADISON, Wis. — SSM Health has invited the community to observe a moment of silence in honor of essential workers and those who have died or lost loved ones to COVID-19.
The observance will be held at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison on Monday at 10 a.m. as part of National Hospital and Health Care Week.
News 3 Now will broadcast the moment of silence over the air on WISC-TV. The observance will also be streamed live on Channel 3000, Channel 3000+ and the News 3 Now/Channel 3000 Facebook page.
The health system has invited local government agencies, the business community, friends and neighbors to join the observance.
“COVID-19 has tested the strength of health care workers, first responders, essential workers and many others who have put themselves at risk for the betterment of the community,” said Kyle Nondorf, President of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison. “A moment of silence is something simple we can do to honor their daily acts of courage and sacrifice.”
Remarks will start at around 9:45 a.m., and the following speakers will be in attendance:

- Janel Heinrich, Public Health Madison & Dane County Director
- Satya Rhodes-Conway, City of Madison Mayor
- Joe Parisi, Dane County Executive
- Damond Boatwright, SSM Health Wisconsin Region President
A COVID survivor will also be reunited with members of his care team during a special ceremony.
