VILLAGE OF AVOCA, Wis. — Authorities say the man who called police about a woman’s death in Iowa County is the one that was arrested for the suspected homicide.
Police in the Village of Avoca say a man called them about a dead woman at 3 p.m. Monday. When police got on scene, they found the man who had called and the woman’s body.
Police believe the woman was killed. In an update Tuesday afternoon, the Wisconsin Department of Justice provided an update saying the suspect who was arrested Monday was the same man who made the initial call to police. The DOJ says the two knew each other, and this was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
The man has not yet been identified by authorities.
The DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation into the death, working with authorities from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office and Village of Avoca Police Department. The Wisconsin State Patrol and the Wisconsin State Crime Lab are also helping with the investigation.
