PORTAGE, Wis. — A Portage police officer who received an infection after being bit by someone while on the job has been cleared for full duty.
Portage police said the incident happened in March. A post said two officers were attacked while they were trying to control a person who was resisting arrest. According to the department, both officers were bit and required treatment.
One of the officers returned to work immediately, while the second got an infection from the bite and needed surgery. An update from Wednesday said the officer was cleared for full duty after two surgeries, daily antibiotic infusions and physical therapy.
