MADISON, Wis. — The only recovery high school in Dane County is expanding.
Horizon High School, which educates teens in recovery from alcohol, drugs and mental health, cut the ribbon to its new facility Thursday.
Previously, the school had one classroom, one bathroom and one office. Now, thanks to a renovation gift, the school has four bathrooms, two classrooms, and three offices, along with a kitchen, laundry room, food pantry and art space for students.
“When issues arise, it’s usually not during the school day, so to say the least, we’re constantly getting phone calls all different times of the night and on the weekends, and we do what we can to get the kids the help they need,” Horizon High School director Traci Goll said.
Right now a total of 17 students attend the school.
