MUSCODA, Wis. — Durr Universal is laying off more than 80 employees this August due to a reduction in manufacturing operations.
A letter sent Muscoda’s village president said a reduction in volume, capacity and optimization is in connection with the layoff.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, 87 employees at the Durr Universal located at 815 Industrial Drive in the city will be affected from the permanent layoff.
Thirty-three of the employees who will be laid off work in welding.
The population of Muscoda is fewer than 1,400 people.
Durr Universal is an engineering company based on Stoughton focused on noise abatement, filtration, gas turbine and exhaust systems, and more.
Employees will receive any benefits and wages they are entitled to during the time of the separation.
