MADISON, Wis. — More than 7,000 Wisconsinites have died of coronavirus complications since the start of the pandemic, according to the state Department of Health Services.
Five new deaths were confirmed Wednesday, which puts the statewide death toll at 7,003. Wisconsin’s first COVID-19 deaths were recorded over 14 months ago.
DHS officials said 46 more people across the state have also been hospitalized in the past day.
Wisconsin reported 330 new cases of the virus, which is below Tuesday’s case count. The seven-day rolling average of new cases per day has continued on a downward trend, with the most recent average falling to 307.

The seven-day average percent positive by test has dropped to 2.3%. The state has reached an all-time total of 609,289 confirmed cases, and less than 1% of those cases remain active.
Health officials said 2,746,912 people have received at least one dose of vaccine, which is 47.2% of the state’s population. As of Wednesday, 2,404,085 residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or 41.3% of Wisconsin.
A total of 5,087,871 doses have been administered throughout the state, including 13,537 in the past day.
