IOWA COUNTY, Wis. — The Department of Transportation says roadwork will begin next month along Highways 133 ad 80 in Iowa County.
According to a news release, resurfacing operations are scheduled to start Monday, June 7 along the highways from Muscoda to east of Avoca.
The release said other work activities include pavement markings, upgrading pedestrian curb ramps in Avoca and installing new guardrail along the Wisconsin River.
Officials said the project will be divided into two parts, with Highway 133 from Highway 130 to Bigelow Hill Road near Avoca starting June 7 until late June. The second part will be Highway 133/80 from the West County Line near Muscoda to Bigelow Hill Road near Avoca, beginning in late June until early August.
During construction, DOT said Highway 133 from Highway 130 to Bigelow Hill Road will be closed to through traffic and detoured via WIS 80, WIS 60, US 14 and WIS 130 along the north side of the Wisconsin River. During the second stage, WIS 133 and WIS 80 between Bigelow Hill Road and Muscoda will be open to traffic with flagging operations.
The project costs $2.1 million.
