MADISON, Wis. — The number of Wisconsinites fully vaccinated against COVID-19 approaches 2.5 million, according to the latest data from the state Department of Health Services.
As of Friday, 2,475,509 people have completed the vaccine series, or 42.5% of Wisconsin.
Health officials said 2,808,405 Wisconsinites have received at least one dose, which is 48.2% of the state’s eligible population. For Dane County residents, more than two-thirds have at least one shot.
More than 550 people received shots Thursday at the second News 3 Now Vaccine Day. Out of those doses, 66 were the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
A total of 5,216,241 doses have been administered throughout the state, including 12,188 in the past day.

The seven-day average percent positive by test has stayed under 2% for nearly a week, with Friday’s average at 1.5%.
The rolling average of new COVID cases per day also went down slightly to 144. Wisconsin has reached an all-time total of 610,740 confirmed cases.
The seven-day average of confirmed COVID deaths per day remained at 4, and the statewide death toll has hit 7,150. With new COVID deaths and hospitalizations on the decline, doctors in the state remain optimistic.
