MADISON, Wis. — Madison’s Lake Rescue Team rescued a boater from Lake Monona this week after his boat engine started smoking.
Madison Fire Department officials said they were dispatched around 11 a.m. Thursday for a report of a broken down boat on fire.
The Lake Rescue team launched from Olin Park and found the boater roughly a quarter-mile offshore form the near-east side of Madison.
The boater told rescuers he was traveling across the lake when his motor died and started smoking and crackling. There was no fire when the rescue team arrived.
Crews then towed the boat back to its launch point at Olbrich Park.
No one was injured in the incident.
