BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit Police Department is partnering with Community Action to host cookouts throughout the month of June in hopes of building a safer community and unifying neighborhoods.
There will be two cookouts during June at neighborhood parks. Hot dogs, chips and water will be provided.
Community Action executive director Marc Perry and officers like Chief Andre Sayles will facilitate discussions throughout the day.
“It is safer now to gather due to the availability of COVID-19 vaccines,” Sayles said. “We want to reunite with our community. Join us for food and an open dialogue about how we can continue to work together to build a stronger partnership.”
According to the City of Beloit Police Department Facebook page, splash pad hours will be extended until 7:30 p.m. on each day of the event to encourage participation.
The events will be held at Vernon park on Tuesday, June 15th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Summit Park on Wednesday, June 16th from 6-7:30 p.m.
