MILWAUKEE — Marquette University will require all students to get vaccinated against COVID-19 if they plan to attend classes in the fall.
The university made the announcement Monday, saying all students — including undergraduate, graduate and professional — must be fully vaccinated by Aug. 1, ahead of the 2021-22 school year.
“At Marquette, we are committed to being the difference,” the university’s statement reads. “Our Catholic, Jesuit mission and values call on us to care for each other and serve the common good.”
The university will not require faculty and staff to get vaccinated, but said it is highly encouraged.
School officials said students can request an exemption for medical or religious reasons, or based on their personal conviction. Any students granted an exemption will be required to undergo testing for COVID-19 throughout the semester.
