COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. — A Mount Horeb man is facing his seventh OWI charge after allegedly trying to evade Dane County law enforcement Tuesday night.
Deputies with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 10:15 p.m. tried to make a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle traveling on Highway 12 near Millpond Road. The deputy pursued the vehicle for less than 2 miles before ending the chase.
The driver, 50-year-old John E. Prochaska, eventually slowed down and stopped on Highway 12 at County Highway BN where he ran from the vehicle, leaving a passenger inside.
A deputy chased Prochaska on foot and subsequently arrested him. Prochaska was taken to the Dane County Jail on a tentative seventh-offense OWI charge. He is also being held on an outstanding Columbia County warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia and a Rock County warrant for intimidating a victim and a parole violation.
