MADISON, Wis. — Police are looking for a car that was driving 58 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone.
According to an incident report, Madison police were conducting a traffic safety initiative in the 800 block of East Gorham Street near James Madison Park around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The report said the area is a 25 mile per hour zone, but officers saw a car driving nearly 60 miles per hour.
Police tried to stop the car, but it kept driving and ran a red light.
MPD did not chase the vehicle, but it was later found after a crash at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Gorham Street.
The car was abandoned, and the report said it was stolen.
A firearm was found inside the car.
