MADISON, Wis. — Former Wisconsin governors Scott Walker and Jim Doyle may not agree on much, but there is at least one thing they agree on — the importance of Wisconsinites getting vaccinated.
The former governors teamed up for a Public Service Announcement with UW Health to promote the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine and its role in ending the pandemic and getting Wisconsin back to normal.
Walker and Doyle appear with UW Health Dr. Jeff Pothof in the 30-second ad.
“We are excited this PSA came together. It’s a good reminder that COVID-19 is not a political issue, and we really do have broad agreement,” Pothof said in a statement. “We want everyone to get the vaccine to keep themselves and the community safe so we can end this pandemic.”
Both Walker and Doyle have been vaccinated.
As of Wednesday, a total of 5,291,294 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Wisconsin, according to the state’s Department of Health Services. About 48.7% of people in the state have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
