MADISON, Wis. — An Indiana man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison for recording himself sexually assaulting a minor in Cottage Grove.
Western District of Wisconsin court officials said 42-year-old Adrian C. Gardiner was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison followed by 30 years of supervised release for producing child pornography. Gardiner pleaded guilty to the charge March 25.
According to a news release, Gardiner drove from his home in Hammond, Indiana to Cottage Grove and sexually assaulted a 12-year-old child on multiple occasions in 2019. Court officials said Gardiner recorded it at least two times.
Court officials said Gardiner also gave the minor alcohol and threatened their family.
U.S. District Judge William Conley said during sentencing that Gardiner’s offenses were “horrific.”
The charge against Gardiner came as the result of an investigation by the Cottage Grove Police Department, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Indiana State Police.
