ROCKTON, Ill. — A private industrial firefighting company is working Tuesday to put out the remaining fire at the Chemtool plant in Rockton, Illinois, more than 24 hours after the fire started burning.
Fire crews built trenches around the facility and put absorbant booms into the Rock River in an attempt to prevent any potentially toxic runoff from the firefighting effort from getting into the Rock River.
Evacuation orders are still in effect.
