LAKE PETENWELL, Wis. — The Rome Police Department responded to the report of a missing 70-year-old man after he fell off a boat around 7 p.m. on Friday.
The female passenger onboard told police the man was driving the boat when he stopped to look at one of the motors.
She said the boat then hit a large wave and caused the man to fall overboard into the water.
The passenger told police the man told her to turn off the motors. She said when she turned around from doing that, he was gone.
Police say they conducted search of the area but the man was not found. Searching will continue today but police say weather may impact their search later in the day.
No further information is being released at this time.
