ASHIPPUN, Wis. — A Dodge County woman is dead after a crash involving a pickup truck and semi Monday.
A news release said officials received 911 calls at about 12:40 p.m. regarding a crash on the intersection of Highway 67 and Town Road MM in Ashippun.
An initial investigation revealed a Ford F-350 truck was heading westbound on MM and failed to stop at a stop sign. A semi-tractor trailer unit that was southbound hit the pickup truck as a result, according to the release.
The truck and semi entered a ditch area and hit a power pole with live wires, which fell on top of the two vehicles. Officials said the crash possibly led to some power outages in the area.
The 45-year-old Juneau woman who was driving the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was inside the vehicle, and officials have not released the woman’s name at this time.
Authorities said the 21- and 22-year-old men from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada who were in the semi had not suffered any injuries.
While officials said failing to stop at the stop sign was a major factor in the woman’s death, other factors such as possible inattentive driving and seat belt use are still under investigation.
The sheriff’s office received help from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Western Lakes EMS, Ashippun Fire Department, the sheriff’s office crash investigation team, chaplains from the sheriff’s office, Dodge County Emergency Management, Dodge County Highway Department, DCERT and WE Energies.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
