LONE ROCK, Wis. — A man died Saturday after he fell into the Wisconsin River while fishing, Richland County authorities said.
Officials said they got a call shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday reporting a potential drowning in the river near the Gotham Boat Landing. Witnesses told dispatchers they saw the man fall into river before the current pulled him under.
The man was found downriver a while later by first responders. He was taken to back to the shore and then to a local hospital as medics performed CPR on him. The man was ultimately pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Lone Rock Fire Department, Lone Rock emergency medical services, Blue River Fire Department, and Spring Green Fire Department all responded to the scene.
