MADISON, Wis. — Fire officials are investigating after a structure fire on Madison’s east side left one home significantly damaged and two others with heat damage.
Firefighters responded around 5 p.m. to the 2500 block of East Dayton Street for a report of a structure fire. While on their way, crews spotted black smoke coming from the area when they were still several blocks from the house.
Crews found heavy active fire on one side of the home and worked to extinguish the flames. Once the exterior flames were out, firefighters entered the home where they found more flames. Additional flames were found in the attic where crews eventually got the entire fire under control. The fire was fully extinguished around 5:30 p.m.
In addition to damaging the primary home, the fire caused heat damage to two neighboring properties.
No one was injured in the fire.
The fire is under investigation by the Madison Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team.
