LOWVILLE, Wis. — The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested a man for attempted homicide after allegedly being involved in a domestic violence incident involving strangulation.
The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to a campground in the Township of Lowville just before midnight on Thursday, July 1st.
After documenting the victim’s injuries and gathering information, authorities arrested 45-year-old Michael Cisneros for what they called a “very serious and significant domestic incident.”
Cisneros was officially charged with one count of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide and one count of strangulation and suffocation in Columbia County court earlier this week. Both charges carry modifiers for domestic abuse and Cisneros’ status as a repeat domestic abuse offender.
Court records show Cisneros has previous convictions for battery and disorderly conduct with domestic abuse modifiers in 2019, twice in 2018, and in 2017, as well as being found guilty of intimidation and attempted use of force with a domestic abuse modifier in another case in 2017.
He is currently being held in the Columbia County jail on a $25,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is set for July 14th.
