VILLAGE OF CASSVILLE, Wis. — A Cassville man was charged with mistreatment of animals last week after trying to kill a paralyzed kitten by throwing it into the Mississippi River.
According to a news release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Klein, 19, tried to throw a kitten into the river in the Village of Cassville on July 5.
The release said the kitten’s rear legs were paralyzed, and Klein intended on killing the kitten.
Officials said a witness later recovered the kitten, which received veterinary care and is now being cared for by a new owner.
Klein was charged with a mistreatment of animals. His case is being referred to the District Attorney’s office.
