SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Timothy Rockwell defeated Kristen Morris in a tight race Tuesday night to represent the Sun Prairie area on the Dane County Board of Supervisors.
Rockwell and Kristen Morris ran for the open seat after Former Sup. Teran Peterson resigned earlier in the year.
Rockwell received 52.4% of the vote in the special election for Dane County District 19, with Morris earning 47.5%.
Sun Prairie City Clerk Elena Hilby said absentee voting continued to be popular in the special election, though some of the rules for in-person voting have been relaxed.
“We don’t have a mask mandate anymore [and] some of the Plexiglass has been taken down so it’s just much more at ease,” Hilby said.
According to county data, a total of 1,164 people voted.
