JANESVILLE, Wis. A Beloit woman is dead after a crash Wednesday afternoon in Rock County.
According to a press release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 4 p.m. near the 5400 block of South County Highway J in LaPrairie Township.
Sergeant Peter Falk said a GMC Acadia was traveling southbound on South County Highway J when it went into a ditch, hit a mailbox and drove through a cornfield.
The vehicle kept going, driving across a driveway before hitting a tree.
The driver, a 49-year-old Beloit woman, was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance before dying.
An investigation is ongoing, but investigators believe speed and alcohol were involved.
