ROCK COUNTY, Wis. — Wisconsin State Patrol troopers have arrested the driver believed to be responsible for a hit-and-run crash on I-39/90. Authorities said the driver was traveling in a stolen car during the crash.
According to a news release from the WSP, the crash happened on the interstate in Rock County near mile marker 180 northbound. The driver of a vehicle who witnessed the crash was able to provide authorities with a description of the vehicle, which had been listed as stolen out of Madison.
Troopers received reports of the vehicle driving northbound on the interstate at high speeds. They were able to find it and stop it near mile marker 150 northbound.
After stopping the vehicle, authorities found the driver had an active warrant through the Department of Corrections. They were taken into custody and booked into the Dane County Jail.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and police notified the registered owner.
