An Alert Day is still in the forecast for Wednesday night as a strong system will drive showers and thunderstorms through central and southern Wisconsin, mainly late in the day and at night.
The latest update from the Storm Prediction Center has an enhanced risk (3/5) for severe weather for most of central Wisconsin, including the northern counties in our viewing area.
The primary threats are still high winds, isolated large hail, and heavy rain, but there is now an increased possibility of an isolated tornado.
Thunderstorms will likely pick up in the late evening and continue overnight. Due to the timing of the severe threat, those who receive weather alerts via a weather radio should make sure the radio is on with the volume turned up before heading to bed, and those who rely on their cellphone for alerts should make sure their phone is charged and the volume is turned up as well.
Showers and thunderstorms may linger in into early Thursday morning, then skies will become partly sunny in the afternoon.
