MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers outfielder has tested positive for COVID-19, despite being fully vaccinated, according to multiple reports.
The positive test was announced Tuesday afternoon by Brewers general manager David Stearns.
Yelich was placed on the COVID-related injury list. Teammate Jace Peterson was also placed on the COVID IL due to contact tracing.
Yelich played a role in the Brewers’ ‘Crush COVID’ PSA earlier this season, urging fans to get vaccinated. He received the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The 29-year-old slugger won the Most Valuable Player award in 2018 and was hitting .235 this season with six home runs and 28 RBI.
