JANESVILLE, Wis. — A Janesville bar sustained an estimated $125,000 in damage during a Tuesday morning fire.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 5:30 a.m. for a report of a fire at Wedges Bar, located at 2006 N. Washington St. When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the building and an active fire in the bar’s kitchen area.
Crews worked to attack the fire, but it spread into the attic of the building. Because of limited access to the space, firefighters had trouble extinguishing hot spots in the attic, but the fire was eventually able to get the fire under control.
One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat related injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Janesville fire authorities said the Milton Fire Department and other off-duty crews helped respond.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. The building sustained an estimated $75,000 in damage, and the damage to items inside the bar were estimated at $50,000.
