MADISON, Wis. — Police arrested a man Monday night for allegedly threatening a security guard with a fake gun.
Authorities with the Madison Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 7300 block of West Towne Way around 6:45 p.m. after a private security guard reported the incident to police.
The guard said they approached the suspect behind the store to ask him to leave the property. The suspect then pulled out a look-alike gun and pointed it at the guard while threatening them. The guard said the suspect then ran off into a nearby wooded area.
Police later found the suspect, 24-year-old Kendall Shaw, hiding under a pine tree. Officers said they found the realistic-looking fake gun inside Shaw’s backpack.
Shaw was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance before getting booked into the Dane County Jail for disorderly conduct while armed.
