JANESVILLE, Wis. — Janesville police arrested a man Tuesday afternoon on tentative drug and gun charges following a brief vehicle chase.
Authorities said the arrest came after a short vehicle chase that started when 39-year-old Eshawn Reed drove away from officers when they tried conducting a traffic stop in Beloit. Officers with the Beloit Police Department’s Violent Crime Interdiction Team stopped the pursuit shortly after it started.
According to an incident report, police found Eshawn’s vehicle parked in the 2900 block of Park Avenue a while later. Eshawn was found nearby and taken into custody.
After Eshawn was taken into custody, police served search warrants at 1733 Park Ave. in Beloit and 1051 S. Terrace St. in Janesville as part of their investigation.
Police said they seized 29 grams of crack cocaine, over a kilogram of marijuana, a handgun and $42,000 in cash from the residences and Eshawn’s vehicle.
Eshawn was arrested on probation warrant. At the time, he was on probation for second-degree recklessly endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
Charges for the alleged drug and gun crimes are expected soon.
