MADISON, Wis. — Madison police say two men — including one who is still on the run — will be charged in connection to a fatal shooting on the city’s west side during 4th of July weekend.
Officers were called to the BP gas station on Verona Road just before 1 a.m. on July 5th, where they found Keshaun Davis-Williams shot inside a vehicle. The responding officers tried to keep him alive, but he later died at a local hospital.
In a press conference Tuesday, Chief Shon Barnes said the district attorney’s office will be filing charges against two men in the shooting. Christopher Somersett, age 26, will be charged with first-degree intentional homicide, while 24-year-old Avieon Little will be charged with first-degree intentional homicide as a party to the crime.
Somersett was initially identified as a person of interest in the case and was arrested on July 7th on a parole hold. He’s been in the Dane County Jail on that hold ever since.
Police say Little is still wanted and at large. A photo of Little was not immediately available.
More details about what led up to the shooting are expected once the district attorney’s office files the criminal complaint on Wednesday.
Anyone with more information on the case or where Little may be is urged to call MPD at 608-255-2345, or leave an anonymous tip with the Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
The shooting is one of five confirmed homicides in Madison so far this year.
