MADISON, Wis. — NBA Champion and Bucks shooting guard Pat Connaughton will deliver the keynote speech at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s celebration for 2020 graduates.
The university announced plans for a make-up celebration ceremony for 2020 graduates earlier this year because last year’s festivities went virtual due to the pandemic. The graduate celebration is scheduled for Sept. 18 at Camp Randall Stadium.
During the Bucks’ Finals series against the Phoenix Suns, Connaughton averaged 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The team’s win in the series brought Milwaukee its first NBA Championship in 50 years.
“For a lot of Bucks fans, the championship win was one of the best moments in an otherwise dark year,” said Kayla Huynh, who served as communications director for the class of 2020. “Having Pat as a speaker just feels fitting because he shows that success can come in even the hardest of times. It’s the perfect last hurrah, a way to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished in the past year and to finally close the chapter on our time at UW–Madison.”
The Sept. 18 celebration is expected to be open to family and friends while adhering to COVID-19 campus protocols.
More information about the celebration and other festivities is available on the university’s website.
