MADISON, Wis. — The trial for a second suspect charged in the shooting death of 11-year-old Anisa Scott is now scheduled for June 2022.
Perion Carreon, 20, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree homicide, both party to a crime, in the shooting death of Scott. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Jury selection is scheduled for June 20, 2022 with the 7-day trial set to start the following day.
During a Tuesday status hearing, Carreon’s attorney asked for bond to be reduced, but the judge rejected the motion. He’s being held on $2 million bond.
Carreon was arrested just days after the shooting that ultimately killed Scott.
Last week marked the one-year anniversary of Scott’s death. Family and friends gathered Friday to honor and celebrate her life with a balloon release ceremony.
The trial for another suspect charged in Scott’s death, 18-year-old Jerry Ward, is scheduled for early June 2022.
