MADISON, Wis. — UW Health is now scheduling COVID-19 booster shot appointments for people with compromised immune systems.
The FDA and CDC last week authorized the booster shots for some with weakened immune systems. People with serious conditions like a recent organ transplant, HIV infections, and a number of other conditions are currently eligible for the extra shot.
The FDA & CDC have authorized providing a 3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccines for people whose immune systems are compromised moderately or severely. The CDC is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose. https://t.co/65tYygsCaY

UW Health officials said people who go the Johnson & Johnson vaccine aren’t yet eligible for a booster shot. Anyone who is unsure whether they should get a third dose should talk to a health care provider.
Anyone looking to schedule their third dose can schedule an appointment online. Patients will not be required to provide proof of eligibility.
