MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating after a car thief stole a vehicle from a residence on the city’s near west side.
Police responded to the 700 block of Chapman Street shortly after 7:15 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a burglary.
Authorities said the suspects gained access to the home by using a garage door opener in an unlocked car that was parked outside overnight. Police said the suspects then grabbed keys from inside the home and drove off in a vehicle that was parked in the garage.
According to an incident report, other vehicles in the area had been rummaged through, but nothing was stolen.
