MADISON, Wis. — The Henry Vilas Zoos is celebrating a $250,000 grant Friday, which will help build organizational capacity to foster empathy for wildlife.
The grant will help the zoo create an interpretive master plan, which will develop on-grounds signage to sustain effective empathy practices and increase empathetic connections to animals in their respective communities.
“Empathy is a really important tool that we use a lot here at the zoo,” Education Specialist Courtney Cordova said. “The grant is really looking at our master plan of interpretation.”
The zoo is one of four to receive a grant.
