BELOIT, Wis. — Students at Beloit Memorial High School left school early Wednesday after the school was put into a “soft lockdown” due to an anonymous threat.
Police said they were first alerted to an anonymous threat outside of the school around 8 a.m. The building was put on soft lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” as officers investigated, according to a news release.
Authorities said they searched the school to make sure there were no weapons inside.
Students were released from class at 1:30 p.m. after police determined it was safe.
Beloit police are still investigating the threat’s origin.
