Wisconsin’s superintendent of public instruction says virtual classes are one of the best ways to keep schools open. Jill Underly, a former Pecatonica school district superintendent, defended the move during the omicron surge as she appeared on a television interview Sunday. Underly said Wisconsin schools can’t remain open when they don’t have teachers, staff members, school bus drivers, and other support personnel. She was defending schools that are being criticized for the move. Underly says moving classes online for a week or two will help keep the schools open for the long run.
