BELOIT, Wis. — Police in Beloit have arrested a 19-year-old in connection with the fatal shooting of another 19-year-old man in the parking lot at Beloit Memorial High School earlier this year.
In a news release Wednesday afternoon, police announced Amaree Goodall of Madison was arrested without incident earlier in the day. Goodall is accused of shooting and killing Jion Broomfield of Beloit on Jan. 29 minutes after the end of a basketball game at the school.

Police credited a tip they received Wednesday morning with leading to Goodall’s arrest.
“We want to thank the community for their ongoing support and cooperation in this investigation,” Chief Andre Sayles said in a statement. “The information and tips provided to our department led to a positive identification of the suspect. The bravery and courage of the individuals who contacted our department through the Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers today should be commended and celebrated.”
Last month, police issued an arrest warrant for Goodall, whom they identified at the time as a suspect.
Despite the shooting happening in a crowded public place, witnesses were initially hesitant to come forward. That led Sayles to angrily call people out for not speaking up.
