Dubuque Man Assaults Girlfriend and Takes Off With Her Child

Police say a Dubuque man assaulted his live-in girlfriend and fled with her child. 31 year old Joseph Kane was arrested  Thursday at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center on a warrant charging child stealing, domestic assault with strangulation, third-degree criminal mischief, obstruction of emergency communication and violation of a domestic abuse order. According to reports, 24 year old  Hannah Ubben told police that Kane, her live-in boyfriend, assaulted her on January 10th, then fled with Ubben’s 1-year-old child without her permission. He took the child to his parents’ home, from which he fled on foot. Ubben was taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital for treatment.
