MADISON, Wis. — Giving to Goodwill wasn’t just an excuse to clean out the garage or make room in the attic on Monday. For soccer fans, it was also a chance to hang out with some “flamingos.”
Forward Madison FC players were hanging out at the Waunakee Goodwill donation center Monday afternoon. They played soccer with kids and gave out signed posters and scarves to people who donated items.
“We help a lot of people with jobs. Our mission is to help people achieve their highest level of independence through the power of work, and so every donation that we receive we sell in our stores, and the money that we receive goes back to support people going to work, getting jobs, training, or one of our group homes,” Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin CEO Michele Harris said.
If you missed Monday’s event, you can still always donate at any of the more than one dozen Goodwill locations across South Central Wisconsin.
Goodwill has also placed donation buckets outside UW-Madison dorms in preparation for people moving into and out of college housing in the coming weeks.
