MADISON, Wis. — Madison police say they are investigating after a woman reported being sexually assaulted as she waited for a rideshare driver to pick her up in downtown Madison.
According to the Madison Police Department, the woman was waiting for a driver to arrive and pick her up in the early-morning hours of Sunday on the 500 block of State Street when she was approached by two men.
The woman said the men made sexual comments before groping her without her consent and leading her to a nearby vehicle before driving away. The woman said one of the men continued to assault her inside the car, but she fought back and was able to get out of the vehicle.
Police say multiple people saw her get out of the vehicle and helped her get to a safe location.
The police department did not provide information about the suspects or the type of car they were driving.
