In a close and highly contested race, we came up just short.
It’s time to unite behind @EricJToney and ensure he has the resources and support needed to fire Josh Kaul. Eric Toney has my full support.

Political experts have their eye on the Wisconsin Attorney General race this November, since the possibility of having a Republican governor, attorney general and state legislature could lead to a significant power shift in the state — and a big change in direction on several policies.
That includes the possible prosecution of those who provide abortions in Wisconsin after the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. Kaul has said that he will not prosecute those cases and urged local district attorneys — including Toney — to do the same.
Dane County district attorney Ismael Ozanne has said he is choosing to focus his resources on prosecuting violent crimes that threaten community safety instead of prosecuting abortion providers, and Planned Parenthood — which provided most of the abortion services in the state — has already stopped providing abortions.
Toney and Jarchow both criticized Kaul for that stance and promised to enforce Wisconsin’s law passed in 1849 that criminalized providing abortions, with no exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

Kaul won the attorney general’s race in 2018 over former Attorney General Brad Schimel by less than one percentage point, with 49.4 percent of the vote over Schimel’s 48.8 percent.
