BONDUEL, Wis. — Bacon from a Wisconsin company is being recalled after the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said it “was produced without the benefit of inspection.”
In a news release Wednesday, DATCP said the voluntary recall includes bacon produced for individuals by and sold at a retail store for Cedar Wedge Farm in Bonduel.
The specific product being recalled is smoked bacon in vacuum-sealed packages of roughly one pound. The packages have packaging dates between Aug. 5 and Aug. 29 and have a mark of inspection with plant number 593.
DATCP said it has not received any reports of illnesses from the bacon.
The recall is considered a Class I recall, meaning “there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The issue was caught during a routine inspection.
