MADISON, Wis. — Local residents will have a new way to minimize their food waste starting next week with the launch of a new food scrap collection program at the Dane County Farmer’s Market.
Starting Wednesday, Sept. 7, anyone with select food scraps can bring their waste to Wednesday markets throughout the month of September. The program comes as the result of a partnership with Green Box Compost.
Officials said visitors should look for Green Box’s tent and signage near the information booth to drop off their residential food waste. The booth will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 200 block of MLK Jr. Boulevard.

The program was made possible via funding from the Dane County Department of Waste and Renewables 2022 Organic Waste Management Grant.
